I am starting a blog. Here's why...
A bit about me: I am a young husband and a young dad. I hold both of those titles very close and consider it my greatest adventure.
I am also someone who is easily-inspired and thinks too much.
Family and brain world take up a tremendous amount of space in my schedule and I often leave both wanting more. I decided to start this blog in an effort to boil my thoughts down into words and sentences in a manner timely enough to be a good husband and dad as well.
3 things that I want this blog to entail:
1) I write a lot of music and I love the experience of hearing other writers talk about their work. I will describe the writing process of many of my songs, going into further detail with the lyrics and stories behind the songs, and sharing demos and rough sketches of earlier versions that brought the song to its completed state.
2) I gather inspiration from a variety of books, movies, and music. I will write about what is inspiring me.
3) I am at the beginning of a major life change (more on this in a second) and hope to have many new experiences, so I will be posting about them.

I am beginning a new chapter in my life. In short, I quit my job as a music pastor to pursue writing, recording, teaching lessons, and who knows what else. I have always wanted to do this, but have always pursued the safety of a steady paycheck instead. This new direction is a conscious choice to pursue spiritual and relational priorities over financial. I have never been more excited and scared about anything; we'll see what happens.
While I could write many more paragraphs about what I would like to do, I will leave you with a cartoon that sums it up perfectly. I came across it about a week after I quit my job and it hit me in the right place. My friend's brother Eli posted it in his blog. Here it is...
So there it is. I will be living the stay-at-home dad life for awhile and creating my own career path. I will be keeping this blog updated with what I am up to. There is already a lot of exciting music on its way. I would love it if you would join me on this new journey.
Thanks for reading.
Ben
